1990s Barbie Dolls, Playsets, Storage and Restoration
A deep dive into 1990s Barbie dolls and playsets, with practical discussion about collection storage and doll restoration.
About this page: This episode guide includes the complete timestamped conversation below, alongside an original editorial summary.
Why 1990s Barbie remains instantly recognizable
90sBarbieWorld explains how childhood dolls and playsets became the foundation of an adult collection. Kelly and the guest compare the memorable faces, bright fashions and themed releases of the 1990s with current dolls, asking why an older Barbie can often be identified at a glance while some modern releases are harder to distinguish.
Displaying boxed dolls, loose dolls and large playsets
Storage is a practical concern throughout the episode. Some dolls are most appealing inside their original packaging, while others become better subjects for posing and photography once opened. Large playsets add another challenge, requiring collectors to balance preservation, available space and the desire to see the collection.
Restoration, identification and the modern Millie era
Thrifted dolls frequently arrive without clothing or identification. The discussion compares the strong visual signatures of many older releases with the large number of modern dolls using the Millie face, then considers how restoration, research and styling can return individuality to a loose find.
Diversity, Christie and the case for thoughtful reproductions
Kelly and 90sBarbieWorld discuss diversity in today’s line while also questioning why classic friends sometimes receive the same outfit treatment as Barbie. Jewel Hair Mermaid Christie and other 1990s characters support a broader wish for reproductions that preserve what made each doll distinctive instead of treating every character as an alternate version of Barbie.
Key takeaways
- Strong faces, fashions and themes give many 1990s dolls an enduring identity.
- A collection can mix boxed preservation with loose dolls used for styling and photography.
- Accurate identification may require research when modern dolls share common face sculpts.
- Collectors want classic friends such as Christie represented with their own design personality.

0:00Hello dolls and accessories. I'm your host Kelly and this is Barbie talk. Barbie talk with Kelly in Pink. As someone who grew up in the 90s, I was instantly drawn to today's guest content. She truly brings the magic of the 90s Barbie era back to life. You may know her as 90s Barbie World on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube where she shares nostalgic finds, iconic dolls and the kind of content that transports you back into time. Please welcome Sarah. Hi Sarah. Welcome to Barbie talk. Hi, thanks for having me. Oh my god, it's an honor to have you. I was just thinking I the other day I was like, I think you're probably one of the first people that I actually built a friendship with when I started. Yeah, I think it was well it was through TikTok I think. A video of mine went kind of viral on TikTok. Definitely. Tell everyone a little bit about yourself and maybe how your relationship with Barbie started. Barbie's been in my life since I was very young. I think my mom would buy me Barbies when I was two, three. [laughter] So this is mommy's fault. Yeah, I remember having a trunk full of Barbies in my room and I had Barbie sheets, Barbie blank like comforter. I had Barbie curtains like I actually do have my sheets.
1:20You still have your bed sheets from when you were a child? repurchase. Here is the pillowcase. Oh my goodness. Oh. That is so classic. I love that. And the the the wonderful like logo there, the Barbie [clears throat] logo. [laughter] Yes. Yeah, so my room was decked out. Well, not to get super sad right off the hop. [laughter] Hold on, do I need tissues? Do I need tissues? Why Barbie is super special is because my mom, she passed away when I was five. I only have very very small memories of my mother cuz I was so young and I just turned five, so she passed away about like a couple weeks after my fifth birthday. I don't have a whole lot of memories. [laughter] So there there's just some memories that I have of her and because she loved Barbies and dolls in general, it's just something that I am just drawn to and I've always been drawn to. Barbie's been my escape my whole life. She's been my best friend because my mom was gone. So that's kind of why [laughter] I have a love for for for Barbie specifically. Yeah. You know what, that makes a lot of sense.
2:31I think Barbie's an escape for all of us in the doll community and we all have a story and that definitely is one that touches at the heartstrings and I'm wearing little hearts which is and I'm like my heart's about to explode. But that's that's actually a really nice way to honor her too cuz she's with you within your stuff, right? Within your dolls. She's seeing that. She lives through that. That's very very sweet. So there's a lot of love for her as I can see behind you. There's a lot of love for her. What would you say is your favorite doll? I know that's a hard question. Okay, so I have two favorites, but I think my all-time favorite is Western Fun. Ooh. And yes, I do have a few next to me right now. Oh yes, look at that classic. Classic 90s. Look at that. Oh. Oh. Oh my god. Oh my goodness. [laughter] And in box. Oh my god, this is you are like the ultimate collector. Like it's funny cuz the collectors I talk to, they do have multiples of their favorite doll. What is it about that doll that you love? Is there like a memory associated with it? Is it the fashion? What is it? Okay, so there's a there's a couple things. So there is a very sentimental story to do with my mother with this doll specifically. I need Kleenex. [laughter]
3:52Um but so these are all three different country mates. So this one's Mexico. You see how her lips are like pale? Pale, very pale. Yes. Um and Sarah's are cheeks and then this one's China. Ooh. Right? Do you notice is the hair the same? Like the is it like Both have long. They're all okay. Yeah, and then this one's Malaysia. Ooh. And what would you say is like the key difference between the three? It's that makeup color and the faces look the same, but all three have different lip colors. What about the one in the box? Which one is she from? Is she China. Is she China as well? Okay. Yeah, and unfortunately I might have I'll have to take that one out because her box has moldy damage on the bottom. I can't remember exactly how old I was. I was probably three and my mom and dad went on a trip to Mexico. And they came I was staying at my grandma's house and I remember I have this memory of my grandma holding me like in her arms and my my mom and dad coming in the garage door back from their trip to come get me kind of thing or whatever. They were holding this big box with this Barbie and her horse and then my grandma was like,
5:12"Oh my god, that is the most beautiful Barbie and horse I have ever seen. Oh, but Sarah's too young. She's too young to have that." I just really remember her saying that and I'm too young. Um but it's so beautiful. Oh my god. And it was the one from Mexico. So I had to repurchase cuz I do still have my childhood doll and my horse, but I've lost everything obviously. Like I have parts of her outfit still. I cut her hair. Oh, you were a kid. You were enjoying it. You were a kid. That's what you right? But she has a she has a bob. Um but she's she's kind of like in my pile that I kind of want to like fix up one day. Sure. Yeah, but yeah, I for the longest time I've been on the hunt for the one from Mexico and she is so hard to find.
6:03Just like you always see China. The China one you can get everywhere. She's everywhere. Yeah. Secondhand, that's that's what you're going to find is the one from China. The one from Mexico, no. So when I found her on a Poshmark live, I saw her and they're like, "Here's Western Fun." They didn't say it was Mexico or anything. I was like, "That's Mexico." I'm like, "Can you please check the back? Is that from Does it have Mexico on the back?" And she's like, "Yeah." I'm like, "Okay, well I'm bidding and I'm buying that. I don't care how much [laughter] it costs." Aw, that's awesome. [clears throat] Yeah, so Like that's your mom man. She sent the the doll heavens from above and you know, made sure you were watching that Poshmark live and you know, like everything just aligned so that you could get that doll. That's such a sweet story. Yeah, and then the the same seller also had the one from Malaysia. So I purchased the one from Malaysia at a later date.
6:56That was much later date. Yeah. Yeah, I think like Malaysia and China are usually the ones that are like easier to find like you said. Yeah, I think out of all of them, I don't know what it is, but Malaysia they seem to produce a lot of prettier like they're just I don't know they're prettier in their face. Mhm. Maybe it's the makeup is just prettier. I'm not really sure, but Yeah. a few others that are Malaysia and they're to me they're the most beautiful, unique looking versions. It seems like the 90s dolls are really sought out. What is your opinion about what's so special about the 90s dolls that collectors would be looking for them when they weren't even around in that era? So today's Barbies, there's a lot of diversity like different body types, different ethnicities, right? Well, that's kind of like today's Barbies. Barbies, I don't know. There wasn't a lot of diversity, right? In like skin tones and stuff like that.
7:48But there was diversity in the sense of every Barbie had different makeup, how many eyelashes she had. There was all these different differences, so I think it's a lot of fun when you're hunting for these dolls like from the 80s and 90s cuz then you're like, "Okay, okay, she doesn't have any of her stuff, but who is she?" So now I got to go figure out who she is. Like right? So you're you're doing all this research and digging around and trying to figure out who this Barbie is. Barbies today, that's gone. Every single Millie you buy today has the exact same face, same number of eyelashes, same flex in the eyes. Everything's the same. So you it's so hard to figure out who like if you thrift that Millie, that could be thousands of different Millies, right? So 100%. Yeah, for sure. That's kind of what I think maybe could be it, but I I I love the older Barbies and the the hunt to figure out who they are and everything. Yeah, and I think you and I share that in common. Let's be honest, a lot of the 90s fashions, they're in style again now. So like you look at these dolls and you're like, "Oh my god, like that's a really cool outfit and it's from the 90s." Well, that's because a lot of the fashions I feel like a lot of the trends that were 90s are coming back, right? Yeah, there's a lot of fashions and that's kind of those are the things that are I'm drawn to like to buy today like if it's a playline and it kind of resembles 90s in some way. So for example, this is a new Barbie that I bought and it reminds me of glitter hair
9:14Barbie from the 90s, right? So she she comes with the same little gel brush Oh my god, that looks exactly like the brush that it came with. Right? Exactly. But yeah, that's kind of what drew me to buy this doll cuz I'm like, "Oh, this is very reminiscent of like glitter hair." So there's a little bit of 90s stuff that are kind of trickling back, but I still feel like Mattel is still heavily into reproducing like 80s stuff. It's like, "Where's the 90s?" [laughter] Like actual reproductions of the 90s. This has been a topic of conversation in a couple other episodes and like it just keeps coming up. So clearly as collectors, hopefully Mattel one day watches this episode, we'll see, but why not like I know Nutty Barbie Girl made a really good recommendation. Like why are we doing a reproduction of Jewel Hair Mermaid?
10:08And she's got a new color. Why can't we do a Jewel Hair Mermaid Mermaid Christie, which was really hard to find, but not in the same gold like gold outfit as Barbie? Why doesn't she have a color? Why doesn't she have a silver? Like this is I'm going to credit Nutty Barbie Girl here because she's the one who came and it's like it's so true. We just keep seeing a you know, a Peaches reproduction. We keep seeing a Day to Night reproduction. Like what about some of the '90s, you know? And I hope that's like a future plan because some of those dolls too in the '90s, they were iconic and has glitter hair. Oh my god, she's wearing the glitter hair t-shirt. And we were just talking See, why not a new glitter hair? And I think like a lot of things with movies and fashion, a lot of like things from the past are being kind of done again. Um so let's let's see some dolls. Let's see some '90s reproductions. And for sure, you definitely bring up a a good point.
10:56I know you're predominantly '90s collector. We're going to talk more about the '90s, but I know you do have interest in some other eras. So I'm not sure if there's any dolls there that are kind of near and dear to you and one of your faves that are maybe not the '90s. I don't really have like super favorites that are not '90s, but I there is a Barbie from the early 2000s and it's uh Jewel Girl. Oh, I've seen this doll. Okay, I just didn't know by the name. Oh, she's cute. It's a cute outfit, too. So I have a little story about this doll. What's the story? This is actually the one I bought in the early 2000s with my own little money. [laughter] I think this was allowance money. I either bought her like 2000 or 2001 where I was too old for Barbie. Right? [laughter] Mhm. But I remember I think I was with my friend possibly her mom, I'm not really sure, but we went to Toys "R" Us in the city. I I lived in a small town. We didn't have have a Toys "R" Us. We had to drive in the city.
11:56So we went in and I had some money and I saw this Barbie and I'm like, I'm buying it. And my friend was like, you're too old. Like why are you buying a Barbie doll? Oh, the judgment at Toys "R" Us. The judgment. But yeah, I saw her and I'm like, I had to buy her. So this one is the one I bought at in Toys "R" Us in the year 2000 2001 whenever like she officially like came out. how much she was? I think she was like around I want to say like 20 25 bucks, maybe. Okay. I'd say. But yeah, she I love her cuz she her outfit changes. Um she can have a skirt or she [snorts] can have pants or Stop. I love these Oh my god, I love these multi you know, like the perfume pretties where the dress would be shorts or come down or like Oh, I love this. Oh. And her her uh scarf top is actually a top, too. So you can you know, like in the '90s when I used to yeah. [laughter] Oh my god, this is like so '90s.
12:55This is like so early 2000s. Yeah. See like I mean, I still had my fair share of enjoyment of the 2000s dolls. Like they're beautiful and like that's a great memory of like the first doll you bought. In case anybody doesn't know, so Sarah and I are both in Canada. Are you like north of Vancouver? No, I'm not I never grew up here. I grew up in Manitoba. Oh, okay. Sorry, I thought you were Okay, so you you grew up in Manitoba. How long did you live in Manitoba for? Till I was about 29, I think. Okay, so you were full adult and then you moved to Vancouver. Oh, wow, I didn't know that. So yeah, what was it like being a collector in like a small town like that? Uh well, it was mostly my childhood, right? That I lived there. I moved out when I was about 17. I got out of there. I went into the big city. Winnipeg. [laughter] And did you see a difference?
13:43So I kind of like took a break from I wasn't really like collecting. I don't know why. I don't really know how to explain it. Like I had I kept all my my childhood dolls. Like I kept all my stuff. And then if I had a little bit of money, I would buy like a playline doll here and there. Um and then like Christmas time, my dad would always get me like a collector Barbie. Either it was like a a birthday collector Barbie or uh like a Christmas like holiday Barbie. Like so um when I was a little bit older, like that's kind of what he would get me, but [cough] at the same time, I'd be like, I want to open it. Like [laughter] And I hate to say it, but I opened them all. So I tried. I tried to keep those in the box, but no, it wasn't happening. There's a few on my shelf actually right now.
14:29That's okay. That's okay. There wasn't a whole lot of stuff to buy in my small town. I wasn't really buying Barbies, right? Cuz I was so young. But I do remember I have a core memory of when I was really young and it's not to do with Barbie, but it's still Barbie size and '90s. [laughter] It's the Spice Girls. So when the Spice Girls came out with dolls, right? I wanted one so bad. Like [laughter] And there was word on the street that these dolls were going to be at Home Depot of all places. Like right? Home Depot. So one of the mornings on a weekend, I went to Home Depot to pick out a Spice Girl and they were there. There were Spice Girls there. Yeah. Um the first wave.
15:15But I wanted Sporty Spice. And they didn't have So I had to settle for Posh Spice. [laughter] With the black dress, the little mini black dress and her like super super hard hair that was like stuck to her head. Yeah, I don't know if you can see them, but I see them. I see them. All there. The first wave. eyes on the top of the box. I remember that. Mhm. I took mine out of the box. I took mine out. So um but yeah, I recently got my Sporty Spice and ended up with two of them. Which is hilarious and I got to unbox one and that one was so it was so special because I had dreams about buying that doll and I never got her as a kid and I just I think it was in the last 6 months or so I managed to get that doll cuz she's been hard to find in Canada to buy second second hand. I don't know why. You can find all them all the other ones super easy.
16:09But that specific Sporty, it's like did they not make very many of that one or something? I don't really know what happened there. [clears throat] I'd say when I really started collecting it was it was probably during is when I really started like collecting and then kind of started my Instagram and was kind of like tinkering around with stuff and and thrifting and stuff like that. But then I really upped it up when we moved to Vancouver because I knew we were going to be here for a while and cuz we were had to move a lot. I see a lot of the thrifting stuff that you do and I don't know. I feel like I need to come up to BC. Some of the stuff you find, the lots that you get, I'm just like I don't know. To me, I don't get that lucky and I'm in a big city in Toronto and it's really hard cuz I think about like that with you with you and other creators that are living in like the Ontario area. Cuz like I you have that awesome store close by in Hamilton.
17:04My two uncles. My two uncles. Shout out to Mike. [laughter] Right? Like I went cuz I went to visit there was like a year ago or something like that. And I got to go to that store and I was like, if I lived here, I'd be there every [clears throat] [laughter] laying down the dough. I know. He's got Look, he's got he's got quite the collection. So you heard it here, Mike, calling you out on My Two Uncles. Go check them out. You do have quite the collection of like play sets, cars. Is there anything that you have nearby that you'd want to share that you feel like is also like pretty cool or unique or something that you found in like a marketplace pickup or anything? I have a walk-in closet full of play sets. [laughter] So I'll talk about a few of my favorites that I've recently found, but they're a little hard to grab at the moment. The one to start I got last year for my birthday when I went to a toy fair was the the Barbie cruise ship.
18:01Ooh. It's huge. It's It's and it comes with a like a blender and two cups. Oh, did you show this on your YouTube? I showed it on something. I was I was part of my haul. I didn't open it cuz it's brand new. It hasn't been opened. Right. It looks huge. And you want to know how much I paid for this specific ship? People want $500 for it. And it's not even complete. And you got this new in box? For how much? Share Share it. Share it, Sarah. I got to do a drum roll. $50. $50. Oh my goodness. And are you like have you opened it yet or you kind of trying to just keep it salvage it in the box? Um I want to do a video of me unboxing it and assembling it. That one was my probably one of my most epic finds in person considering it's so it's such an expensive cuz I there's actually a big toy store that's somewhat close to me that has it for sale and it's been for sale there forever and it's not complete, not brand new. It has its box, but they want $600 for it. Oh my god. So So this big toy store near you, they have like older toys?
19:07Yeah, they're they're called Toy Traders. I think it's the largest toy store in Canada and it's out in Langley. They have a very small Barbie area, but the thing is like when they get Barbies and vintage Barbies, they're usually on the shelf and gone really quickly. And they're they're kind of far from me, too. So I don't always get to go there and check things out. But I do usually tend to get at least one vintage Barbie when I go I like usually there's something there. You have quite the collection clearly and you've got a lot of big pieces. How do you manage storing all of this in your space? Yeah, so I live in a very very tiny townhouse. I mean, I can't complain cuz I have my own room, right? So um it it's yeah, it's very small. So, all I have are two Billy bookshelves that are Barbie dedicated.
20:01So, um and I have one shelf that I'm looking at that has a a few of my boxed dolls, not all of them, but a few of them. Um I do want to get another shelf cuz I need to I need a little bit more display Yes. Um these two shelves specifically I switch out regularly. Okay. So, that seems to be a common thing with people like just moving them around. Yeah, I got to rotate. So, right now it's in celebration of Barbie's birthday, which was, you know, not that long ago. Oh. And then behind me is uh Easter spring. I see perfume pretty Whitney men. I My eyes went right to her. Yeah, I'm I'm in the process of restoring that doll.
20:49So, she just got some girls um recently. Yeah, I recently I got her outfit from my two uncles. Oh, okay. Again, my two uncles, another shout-out to Mike. Yeah. [laughter] Um yeah, so I have to do that. And then um kind of like my lower two my four shelves on the bottom. I don't Yeah, can you see them yet? Yeah. It's all These are boxed dolls in the front, but behind them there's just a bunch of Barbies standing up Wow. in storage basically. How do you decide like I predominantly you're out-of-box collector, but you're kind of a mix cuz I see some dolls that um and I think everyone's dream is to have one in box and one out-of-box. That's every collector's dream. But what is your deciding factor um when you look at the box and you're like, "I'm going to take this out?"
21:34So, basically what I decide is when I get a boxed Barbie, I look at the doll itself on the inside. How does she look? Does her face look greasy? Is there a lot of white stuff like dust or something all over their face, right? I look at that. I look at their outfit. Does it look like there's mold on it? Um does or the box, does it look like the box has had water damage? Like you might not be able to pick it out, but there's water damage on the very bottom here. It looks a little wrinkled. Yeah. Yeah. You see that? Yeah, so when I see that, I'm like, "There's probably mold." [laughter] There's a good chance. So, um that that's kind of those are the main things. And then I look at the like the clear plastic. Is it yellowed? Is it cracking? Right? So, if this is like cracked in any way or yellowed and discolored in any way, I'm going to take them out. Then enjoy the doll.
22:33If the doll is in pristine condition, pristine box, I mean, she's not totally pristine this one per se, but I don't see any issues with her. Right? So, she's going to stay in her box. Okay, so you look at it in terms of like just the condition of like the doll cuz sometimes as we know the plastics or whatever the box material's made of over time can damage the doll. Cuz some people like I know for me I look at a doll and I'll be like, "Do I like the packaging? Is it like like a holiday doll? Like I love the way the artwork is and there's a story on it." And like if I got a perfume pretty in box and she was of good condition, as much as I want to touch her, I'm like, "The value of her." Now, it depends like if you're thinking about like is this something I want to keep forever? Is this something I may want to like get rid of down the line? Um which I never thought I would do, but sometimes life throws you curveballs and you're like, "Hey, I got to make some money or I have to downsize cuz our space is getting smaller." So, I was just curious to know kind of what your deciding factors and it just seems to be like it doesn't matter the value, it's how the condition of the doll in the box is, which is great. Yeah, I it's basically I need to rescue it. [laughter] I It looks like it's disintegrating in her box. She's got to come out. And there's a lot of Kens I've been noticing from the '90s have greasy face. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. Yeah.
23:52Kens got to come out. I also didn't know the Kens' heads sometimes some of the them were shrinking. Like back in the day they would shrink. I didn't know that. Yeah, my wedding day Midge like Alan's face was like it looked like I don't know, he was nervous to get married. Like it was just all this sweat. And I think I may have reached out to you to say like, "How do you get this off?" Cuz I'm I'm kind of struggling cuz you're really good at restoring and you're super detailed and your instructional videos are great. So, I definitely learned a lot from you for sure. Yeah, Oxy Clean. You're a big fan of Oxy Clean. Oxy Clean is your friend when it's anything sticky. That's uh that's what I use. Sticky leg, sticky face, sticky stuff on their clothing So, whatever you do, do not wash a pair of Diva's pants from Barbie and the Rockers Generation 2. Do not do not. I just learned that from your video. Do not do that. I'm glad you said that because I probably would have.
24:52I probably would have. Don't even do it. Don't even touch it with water. Okay. [laughter] Don't even like dab a little bit of water on it. So, thank you. You can learn a lot from '90s Barbie World. So, make sure you're following her. Don't Yeah, don't do it. And yeah, the other thing too is like the spots on the legs, right? That you can't Nothing you can do. You're not going to can't rebody legs. There's nothing you can do and that's probably the most unfortunate thing. In all honesty though, I am going to try and figure out how to just take legs off and put new ones on. So, if I get like body donors that have cracked like chewed up hands or like stuff you cannot fix, like that those are just trash, if they got good legs, they might go on to a Barbie that has spots. So, I'm going to I'm going to figure out how to do that at some point. That's a great That's a great tip. I have a couple of dolls that I'm going to test on that are totally trashed. And then I'll see if I can figure that out. And then that's probably what I'm going to do to fix some of the ones I really love, like Yeah.
25:54That's a great tip. That's a great tip. I've never thought about that. And I also I mean, I only like over the last year or so am I like rebodying and like popping heads off and things of that nature. Like I wasn't doing that before and so I just felt like I don't want to do that to my, you know, to my '80s dolls, right? But then I see so much content of like, you know, a great shape Barbie or a or um a Barbie and the Rockers in an actual pose and I'm like "Oh my god, I love that for content, right?" So, that's why it'd be nice to have multiples of things. But like even the like the the the body donors, never thought about that having like you can use legs or arms or whatnot. So, when you start doing that, I'll make sure to watch because I've got to learn how to do that. And it's got to be a match. That's the other thing, too.
26:39It's like body matching with the skin tones. Yeah, so that's one thing that I'm very particular with. So, I know a lot of people who are like, "Oh, I'll just take any any old body and slap it on, right?" I can't do that. It has to have this exact country make I and everything cuz like I can't Yeah. legs, it's harder to tell, but it but it has to be the right legs. It can't be It can't be the '80s pointy toe legs when it's they're using like the '90s round toes. You know what I mean? Like I'm very particular. [laughter] That's good. Like that's what makes you, you know, that's the type of collector you are and that's what makes your stuff so perfect. You know, like your like I can usually I can usually pick out a rebody like real quick. I'm like, "That's That's not right." That Barbie's supposed to have just not straight arms.
27:24Right. Correct. Yeah, which is great. It's still in its box. Ooh, what's this? Is this like the folding house they would fold? Oh my goodness, where did you get this? I never had one. [laughter] I I originally So, I got this one well, not the specific one. So, the the box itself, it had it it had another house in it. It had the same the house, the correct house, but Yeah. but it was missing um the cute I don't know if that'll show up on here. Um there's like little fences on the very on the very top. Got Yeah, I couldn't see Yeah, can't It's hard to see a little bit, but yeah, she's like hard to see. Um Oh, yes. The little fences on top. Like it's like little white fence. Yeah, so it didn't have it. But it had the box. It had the house. It had a lot of its like some pieces in it. Um and it was missing stickers. Mm. And stickers were in like the wrong place. Um so, I was like, "Okay." I ended up getting a new another house and replaced it and put it in and used this box and sold the other house. So, now I have one with the fence and everything and the stickers and all that. But on the one that I did sell, I had to
28:46fix the stickers. So, you know, sometimes you'll get a playset that has the stickers in the wrong place and you and it's clear as day that it's in the wrong place. Like I I even have um a Fold 'n Fun House, which is a very very special playset of mine that I had as a kid. There's like the flowers are the wrong place. So, basically what you do, I just take a a hairdryer and I heat up the sticker. And as you're heating it, you start to pull it off and it starts to pull it starts to get So, it kind of loosens up the adhesive so that you can take it off without ripping it. Awesome. I I am so scared to like rip old things and like ruin things. So, like I tend to not do it. do Yeah, so I do have a tutorial on that and it's and it is showing this house somewhere. I don't know if it's on my TikTok or on my Instagram. It could be it's on Yeah, anywhere. So, if anyone's interested in that, take a look. Like look on '90s '90s Barbie World everywhere. She's on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Yeah, so there's there's that. So, if if the stickers are in the wrong place, I use a hair dryer, heat up the sticker. If it's um a sticker that you get a brand new play set and the sticker sheet is dried up, no longer, no sticky, nothing anymore. I bought a spray adhesive.
30:05So, you know, like you would put on wallpaper? Yeah. Yeah, it's just that's all I buy, right? So, I I have a tutorial on how to do that using doing this on the Magical Motor Home. So, the Magical Motor Home, that's a classic too. So, find that glue is better than just like Yeah, cuz it makes it a sticker again. I think some people probably just take some like a glue stick and glue it on, but this [clears throat] this actually makes it a sticker again. But it it all worked out and now my motor home has stickers, except for there's like black strip stickers that you're supposed to put around. They're very very thin and delicate. I have not done those yet because I'm just like, that just is very daunting. Um but yeah, that that house I never had it as a kid, didn't know it was existed, the um the Family House, but I thought it was so cute. It's like a little cottage. Um so, that's like one of my favorite play sets that I purchased. Um and then I have one play set that I I've had since I was very little. Ooh. I don't have the box anymore. Okay, that's okay. Um but it is a camping set. I think it was a Camp Barbie. Yes, it definitely goes with the Camp Funz, the Camp Fun dolls, yeah. Yeah, because it has glow-in-the-dark stars.
31:27So, this is the tent, right? And I have like all the pieces still, which is like wild. I have a tent too. It's not pink like that. I think it's like orangey and it it's daunting to even put together with all the the pieces. I just kind of like folded it and like stored it away. I'm like, I don't know what to do with you. I'll wait till the summer and figure it out. But I didn't That glows in the dark. I love that. Yeah, so the stars on the very top. It's just like how the there's sleeping bags, right? Yeah, the the Camp Fun ones, yeah. When you turn them, the backpacks became sleeping bags. Logs, how cute. Right? How cute is that? Uh and then there's like a the campfire. This is what you've had since you were a kid. Yeah, this is my this is my childhood uh play set that I still have and have all the pieces to, except the sleeping bag got caught in the vacuum cleaner back in the day. Ah. Oh, that's a story though. I mean, you'll always remember that, right? [laughter] Here's all the poles. Oh my god, it just so it sometimes it overwhelms me that the tent I have. I'm like, oh my goodness. Ah, a little guitar. I don't know why when I saw the guitar and like a fireplace, I just thought of like the recent Barbie movie release with Ken and Barbie sitting by the fireside and Ken singing his whatever that song, I want to push you around.
32:51Is that the song? Did you get that Barbie? I didn't. Yeah, I got it. It came damaged. What? The dolls themselves are fine, but the whole front of the the box is cracked. That was something I wanted to display inside the box, right? Cuz it had a whole scene, right? I contacted Mattel. I got all my money back. Amazing. So sad. Maybe cuz of the plastic. Oh, jeez Oh, Jesus. That looks like shattered glass. That's horrible. Well, good on Mattel for doing the right thing. Unfortunately, they can't send you another one because those were made to order. They don't have any Oh, they don't I think Mattel Creations, if it doesn't matter what you buy, it's made to order or not, they just send you a refund if there's something wrong. Okay, that's good. I mean, sometimes you want like in this case, would you have liked a new box or you I mean, I guess you're okay with getting it for free, but some people are like, no, I don't I want my boxes to be tip-top shape.
33:55Yeah, when it it there's just some dolls, you know, like that I got uh that you get from them that you want to you want to keep the box, right? So, this is the first time this has has happened to me before cuz like I've purchased other dolls and I've never had like bad bad box damage. I was more likely to get wonky eye than I would get a damaged box. It's on the front, right? Oh, that's brutal. That's too bad. That's unfortunate. So, yeah, I don't know what I'm going to do yet with that. So, anyways, we got off topic. Let's get back to this camping set. [laughter] Oh, the cute chips, adorable. Adorable. Uh And it's it's great that you have all the accessories still, especially like they're so old, right? Like and you took care of your stuff. I was a lot like that too. Like I tried to keep all of like the little hairbrushes and all the little accessories that came with.
34:48Um but it's really hard as a kid to do that, right? Oh my god, the little marshmallows roasted. I'm pretty sure I have the other There's another piece that I should have and it's not in my bag at the moment, but it's like a piece of bread or something on a stick. I don't really know. There's bacon and eggs. Bacon, that's awesome. Ew, slob. And then there's like a cute game, double-sided. Ooh, like there's like checkers and I forgot the name of that game. Backgammon? Is that backgammon? Maybe. Don't go Oh, a little lantern. That play set I played with like so much is my favorite. I love camping, like camping Barbie stuff. I just have to I have to have it. You've got all the camp I'm going to assume you've got all the Camp Fun dolls. Yes, I do. Um my Midge though, I've been piecing together. So, I think she's the only one that I don't have like that's pretty much complete. I think everyone else is very close to being complete or I have cuz I got Ken new in box, which was so hard to find in Canada. Um and I have Skipper new in box. Skipper, yes. I forgot about the Skipper. And the Christie, like it they found I found like I always That one I don't have.
35:55I don't have Christie. Christie's just wearing what Barbie's wearing, which it kind of again, why can't Christie have her own thing? Like why is she wearing what Barbie's wearing? Like can she be unique and have something else, right? Especially because she was Christie, like she was a different character. Like now today, um the Christie of today is Barbie. Yes. Same as Barbie, but she's Brooklyn or whatever. Yeah, which is fine. It's just more like she deserves to have like She has her own style. Yeah, even like, you know, like the Crystal doll, the Crystal Barbie or like Magic Moves, she came in the same dress as Barbie, but you know, your Whitneys or your PJs wore something different. Like Christie could have had something different too, even if it was like just a twist, something something that gave Christie her own identity, right?
36:48Ah, oh my goodness. Oh, [laughter] she's just stacking the play sets on her chair. [laughter] Okay, we're about to go into play set rapid fire with 90s Barbie world. [laughter] Okay. Stop. Stop. Stop it. You need to stop right there. You need to bring that closer to the screen. I wanted that vanity for my dollhouse because I had the um Is this not part of the Sweet Roses? No, the Living Pretty. The Living Pretty. Yeah, Living Pretty, yeah. I had the dollhouse with the three levels and the staircase. God, I forgot what it was called. Yeah, and I just my I got it with um a bunch of furniture, like the couch, the two couches that open one opened up into like a bed.
37:47I got the bedroom with like the headboard that has like the rows or whatever on it. I think it was called Sweet Roses, the row. I don't know why, but the Living Pretty line, I all There was so many pieces I wanted and that right there was one of the grails. Where did you find that? Is that from your childhood or is that I love that house that you mentioned. I remember a friend of mine that had it and it just had all the flight furniture and it was just like the the sweetest thing and I never had a big enough space as a child. I never lived in a home, I lived in an apartment. So, I never had a big Barbie house ever. I only ever had the folding fun, which is easy to like go it goes in a little suitcase, right? That's right. It's super compact. Um so, I got that from I got that recently in the last few years and it came with a lot of the Sweet Roses furniture that I did not have, like the kitchen and this woman that I bought it from was these were her childhood toys. And when I say like I have no I think I've ever met somebody who's kept their toys in pristine condition. Like she had all the cutlery for the kitchen set, everything. Oh, wow. Yeah, so I I I actually do own all the Sweet Roses {slash} Living Pretty furniture sets and most of them have their box. Oh my goodness. Show this vanity again.
39:08People need to see this beautiful vanity. This one I had as a kid. So, when I was really little and I'd go to Grandma's house, I'd have a couple items, like furniture stuff and I I Grandma had a fireplace and it had like a little ledge and then like carpet or whatever, right? Pink like kind of rose pink carpet back in the day. Oh my goodness. And I would set up my Barbies in front of that fireplace. And this is one of the play sets that I would set up. That's a classic. It's brand new. And that's So, that's brand new in box. It's brand new in box. It is opened, but it is has not been assembled. Like it Guys, this is from like 80 1987. 87, yeah. And where'd you find that? This was uh eBay.
40:00Wonderful. Okay, what's next? What do we else do we got? Yeah, so I just wanted to mention though, I think I've decided if I if I get a thousand followers on my YouTube account, I'm going to set up that house and open up all the play sets that go to it. Okay, we got to follow 90s Barbie world. [laughter] Oh my god, I've never seen this. It's a hammock hideaway. This is for the Hawaiian fun line. This is adorable. Oh my goodness, the Oh my goodness, the little drinks on the side, the little Oh my god. Oh my goodness, what else? What does this do? It's got a a hip pack? Yeah, Oh, that's stuff for you? Yeah, the hammock Oh, it can also be like a fanny pack for you. So it has a zipper.
40:48Yeah, so this one I had to find again. [laughter] And this was eBay? Um yes. Oh my goodness. These are a couple things I have not Oh no, one of them was is a has been opened before and assembled, but these two last ones I'm going to show are from my partner that I got for Christmas in the last two years. Shout out to the partners who support the the the collection. This the hot dog snack shop. I have this, but it's the California dream in or Club California, whatever, same same difference. And that's the one I have, but that's for the rollerblade. Yeah, so I actually have that one, too. Um So cute. Is it smaller? Is it smaller or is it the same size? I think it comes with possibly less and it might be smaller. I'm not sure. I've never taken it out yet.
41:38Oh my goodness, this is cute. I love it. These are such classic play sets. And this Barbie here is a very special one for me as well. So, cuz I had her as a kid. I feel like I have this memory of my dad This is like after my mom passed and my dad went on a cruise ship or something and he came back with a Barbie and I'm pretty sure it was that one. See, there's a lot of dolls that just like they might not be that special. Like people look at it and go what? Like why is this simple Barbie so memorable to you? Because there's a story behind it. Cuz like cuz my my my mom cuz she passed away when I was so young that my entire family kept Barbie alive. Mhm. And so every moment that they could, like my dad um my grandparents, my aunts and uncles, they all pitched in in some way, form or another. Like it wasn't even always on my birthday, either. Like my uncle he was going um overseas cuz he joined the army when he was, you know, I don't know what he was like 18 or something at the time and he bought me um we were in the store and I was infatuated with gymnast Barbie. And he bought her for me before he left to go overseas to That's nice. [clears throat] Yeah, so there's a lot of there's a lot of different little like little stories and I carried that Barbie everywhere.
42:52That Barbie I learned how to braid hair. So she's another like really special Barbie of mine. Oh, that's sweet. Yeah, I love hearing stories like that. It just kind of so many people can relate. Hold on, hold that up. I got to sneeze. Okay. Oh my goodness, the spa. This is the one that bub it bubbles. And such the water shoots up here in like like a Girl, you have so many of my grails. This is fantastic. And look, Hawaiian Hawaiian fun Barbie's in that shop, too. That's so funny that she's in that picture, too. I had her Yeah, so it's like their play set as well. Yeah, I love those dolls, too, cuz those dolls I had I had like I had the pool and everything as a kid. But it's not even just the pool it or the like it's the spa. It has the the fencing background.
43:40You know those pools, they're terrible. They're terrible play sets cuz they're like a vinyl and they never stay up straight nicely. It's not like a hard plastic. So that's the one that I had as a kid and I don't know what happened. It got trashed. [laughter] And then like you fold it away every year or you put it away or whatever and then you go play with it again a couple weeks or a couple months later and you have to like spread it out. It's yeah, it's definitely not great. And like those the hard plastic, they're fantastic. Yeah, they're awesome. Exactly. I mean, obviously you're a 90s Barbie fan, clearly, but there's some other dolls. I mean, I'm sure I know we've talked about there's some other dolls you're into. You're not into Okay, so I think this one's like a current Barbie, right? Got her in the last year from Mattel Creations. But I would say she's probably my favorite collector doll of today. [gasps] What do we have? Oh my god.
44:31Dead. Dead. I just died. I just died. She is everybody's grail. And Bill Greening, man, that doll Hold her up. She's got to be shown. She needs to be showed off. That's kind of psychedelic pattern and like it kind of brings like it's like the Totally Hair. We got to show her off a little more. I need to see her. Yeah, now to get her on on eBay, forget it. Look at this Look at that Look at that. Look at that fur. It's a coat. It's a coat. Yeah. Oh Oh my god. She's just so wish list wish This is on a huge wish list item of mine. And I've seen people take her out and she's beautiful displayed, but the box is so beautiful, too. If honestly, if I if I was rich, I would have bought two. 100% That was one of what I would have bought, too. Oh my gosh, she's a classic. What a beautiful Yes. So you're into a lot of the newer fashion style dolls, right? What is it about it? Are you looking at the fashion? You're looking at the face? So if I'm going to buy a Barbie today, I got to like what she's wearing. I have to take into the account of like So there's some things that, for example, the Pink Premiere. Oh yes. Now the gala is beautiful.
45:50I'm not really one to buy something like this this type of doll because yes, she is very pretty, right? Um and she has a beautiful outfit and everything. You know what it is, too? It's like a play. You can't really play. I think it's also the Odile face that we were all kind of like, oh my god. Yeah. For sure. normally like articulation does matter to me for um I want them to be able to be posable like and stuff like that, right? I don't always buy new stuff. Some of the new fashionistas like, for example, this one. She's cute. I like everything about her. Yeah. So even though I she doesn't have articulation, I love her outfit. I love her shoes. Her face. Yeah. It's got Saran hair.
46:46So like if I see a Barbie on the shelf and she's got uh that poly hair and doesn't have a very interesting outfit or come with cool accessories, not buying it. No. I I've got a sewing machine for Christmas, so I just recently learned how to use the machine and how to thread it and all that, right? Got to do that first. Yeah. Um and then now I'm kind of trying to gather some supplies and I have a few bits and things here and I have a Barbie book. There's a sewing book that you can get on Amazon right now. Oh, good to know. Okay. Yeah, so there's this Yeah, there's a sewing book with patterns of today though. So fit your fashions and things of today, right? And then it has it has the lines for every body type. So if there's a fashion that you want to make for your curvy, there's there's a pattern for that. So it's it's it's a a bit of a difficult uh book to follow. Like I'm finding like I got to like to get the the patterns specifically cuz they're all kind of laying over top of each other. So that's kind of I'm having a little bit of a with that, but I'm going to try and pick a pattern, cut it and I got fabric from uh Dollar Tree just to test out. I don't want to get too crazy when I'm just starting out, right? Yeah, no for sure. Yeah, so I'm going to try to figure that out. Um so hopefully in the next month or so I have something. [laughter] And uh we got a 3D printer. That's awesome. Have you
48:10been using that for Barbie stuff? Um a little bit, not much yet. But you know how you sometimes get a Barbie Jeep and it's missing the steering wheel? Yes. Oh, you could just you just use Oh, you could just Oh my goodness. I love that. Yeah, usually it's missing the steering wheel, the shifter, or the side mirrors, which sucks, right? I mean, or the windshield, which is just like I have Teen Skipper's. Cute. So this one did not have its steering wheel, so I printed one. Look at that. Look at that. DIY and it's done. I love that. Man, I got to 3D print some stuff. I want to get into figuring out how to make pieces that I'm missing. And I do want to learn how to re-root. So I got some of the tools for it. I got to figure out where to buy hair in Canada.
49:00Like where do you buy hair? Don't ask me, but I know people have said Temu, but then I hear people saying it's not the best quality, but it's affordable. So I don't know. Yeah, re-rooting is something I want to do. It's just it's the time. And everyone's like, just when you're sitting down watching TV and I'm like, I don't even really sit down and watch that much TV. So, you know, it's just when you're just maybe just like chilling and you're just kind of poke Oh, poke and you kind of just do that. I've restored a lot of leather. Like you know how a lot of Barbie leather flakes off over time. I figured out how to fix that on vintage. Awesome. So like, for example, like the leather on her, I've completely restored. Okay. Well, I came across a video and I still haven't done it yet, but I'm going to reach out to you because I'm really scared. Like, I'm scared to ruin it. So, we're going to talk after this episode about That's all I did. Fabric paint. Fabric paint.
49:53Yeah, that's usually what But, do you peel off the the stuff first or do you just paint over it? Paint over it. Yeah. Some people peel it off and I'm like, "I don't want to peel it off." Me. That works sometimes. Depends, though, because I find if the underlaying is too thin, it's really hard to build that back up again. Yeah, I need to fix my wrap and rock and Barbie skirt. And then I also I've got a That recently. I've got a um right here I've got an earring magic Midge right here. And I don't know if you can tell, I don't want to point out her private parts, but she was leaning on her plastic in the box. So, when I took her out, that area had like a little It's got like probably can see fading a little bit right there. And I'm like, Okay, and I'm trying to find the the exact color. It's a really hard color to match cuz it's like a Yeah, luckily all my earring magics um are in box. Yeah. And nothing is nothing seems to be peeling or anything, so. The second they start leaning on that box or the plastic, then be careful because they'll take it off. Your page was something that caught my attention. It's very visually satisfying. Um all of your content um Tik Tok, Instagram, YouTube. How do you approach like styling or shooting your content? Do you kind of plan it or is it just really spontaneous?
51:12It's very spontaneous. And I've learned that if I try too hard, you don't get any engagement. That's a good That's a good It's very natural. Like, it looks very I don't know how to explain It just looks '90s. Like, I don't know how to explain I don't know if it's like playing or I'll just get an idea in my head. I'll be like, "Oh, yeah." Like, or I have like a projects, right? Mhm. So, for my YouTube specifically right now, a lot of it was unboxings cuz I had tons of dolls that had to come out of their box because they had problems some kind of a problem they had to come out. Right? So, a lot of my content on there currently is a lot of vintage unboxings. But, once I've I've I'm pretty much caught up with that, so there's only a very small handful now of dolls that have to come out um that need to be fixed in some way, it's going to be showing my collection more in-depth. Yeah. Like, is this play set? And show you if do I have all the dolls to go with this play set? So, there's going to be a lot of that. Um but, yeah, for the most part, sometimes it's just somebody requests something, right? They'll be like, "Hey, do you have this?
52:20Do Can I see it?" Or I had I had recently I know you actually as well I've got the the Midge wedding set that you thrifted. So, I got that one new in box. This uh same It was a couple years ago, but the same uh seller that I bought the ship from, the big cruise ship. Yep. And I got that set for I want to say $75, I think. That's a good for the wedding day Midge set? Yeah, the big gift set. Fantastic. Yeah, so I had that and um somebody requested that I unboxed it and I I needed to unbox it because Allan in there is had sweaty face. So, and then I realized that they have leather. The guys have leather on their jackets. So, some things I have to fix, so I took them out. Um but, then noticed that it wasn't complete.
53:13I'm missing shoes. I don't have shoes for the little I guess she's called Kelly for some reason. I don't know why she's called She's called Kelly on the box. That's not Kelly, man. That's Daisy. Yeah, so I I mentioned that in my video when I unboxed it. I'm like, "This is Daisy." Yeah. Or maybe she was once She was once Tutti. I don't know. I don't know. I can't keep up with the the sibling names. She's got like seven. Like, I can't keep up. But, that one specifically is has always been Stacy. And Todd, they were twins. It was like Tutti and Todd, they were twins. Like, that's Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so I remember. But, for some reason I had the baggy of all the men's clothes or the Yeah. bow tie and the all that stuff. Um but, then for the girl dolls, I never got a shoe pack for them. So, but luckily I had Barbies like of the the bridesmaid, I had her shoes with the s- the exact country make. But, I'm on the hunt for Midge's white shoes and the Stacy Kelly shoes cuz I don't have them. That was a set I've always wanted as a kid. So, I got it for my birthday and then I want to keep it in box and then I saw the sweaty face on Allan.
54:21So, I've pulled it out, I've washed it that way. I really want to keep them in box. The packaging is like got some dents and whatnot, but it's overall okay and I just like keeping it I would love to keep it that way. I really love the way the box looks. I'm going to put them back in their box. Yeah, so that's what I want to do. So, I had to like take out Allan and just kind of clean him and he still didn't turn out too great, so I still got to work on him. I've got like a pile of things I want to like watch that watch that video of me unboxing that and know how to fix it. Yeah, so I'll do that and then a couple days later in a word of a lie, I walk into a thrift store and I saw the and then this set was there, too. And I'm like, "What? I just got this for my birthday." Now, mind you, it didn't come with like her bouquet, there was missing shoes, da da da da. And then I put I have always washed everything I get at a thrift store and I wasn't realizing that the leather on the suits and I washed them. So, of course, I ruined it.
55:12So, now I'm like, "Ah, I got to repair this." So, there's just a pile of things I need to get to that I haven't. And then I saw your video and I was like, "I need to try to fix I actually I think watching your video is how I fixed Allan, but he didn't come out as nicely as yours. So, Just OxiClean and hot water. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I don't know what is going on with the Kens and the Allans so I can't [laughter] Yeah, I don't know what's going on either. But, you do a fantastic job on I mean, you've got a ton of videos. That's a lot of work on your YouTube of like unboxings and showing things and you've been going There's so much. So, guys, go check go check out her stuff. Tell me, what is the oldest doll that you have in your collection? Yeah, so I recently a friend of mine from Alberta Canadians. Ah! A bubble cut. A bubble cut.
56:04She's either between I think 19 62 to 19 67. And this And she's the one that comes with the red bathing suit. And this is a gift that's of your friend gave to you. Uh yes, so well, I I paid. I paid money for it, but Okay. Okay, okay, okay. So, you said that's quite the gift. And even still, like, those go for a pretty penny. So, that's such a fantastic doll to have in your collection. Oh my god, it doesn't end there. And Ken? What? You were holding that one back. You were like, "Fell in love with Oh my god, that's awesome." And they're in good condition. She actually repainted his hair. Okay. Very nice. Um for me. Um he has his original shorts, but this is not shirt, but she just put him in it. And I do also have Midge, but she needs to be restored.
56:56So, Oh my god, I need a vintage Midge. That I need a vintage Midge in my collection, that's for sure. I love the freckles and but she had like the lighter brown hair. So, this Barbie, I guess she came out probably in like '98, maybe, I want to say. I saw her I was with my grandma and we were in the store and I saw her and I wanted her so bad. I thought she was so cool. But, my grandma's like, "I don't know. Like, that doll is very like risqué and like Oh. I don't I don't agree with this." And she was not really like having it, but she did buy it. Do you want to know who it is? Risqué? Who could it be? And she has tattoos. Ah!
57:44I'm trying to think. I know there's a few dolls with tattoos. I'm just trying to think of the timing. Who is she? Butterfly. Oh. She's got one tattoo. But, she comes with tattoos, so you put tattoos all over her, right? So, this is my childhood one and I did put a butterfly tattoo on her. Oh, yes. Oh my goodness, that's funny how like an older generation would say that's risqué. Oh my god, but she's classic. I love that halter. Yeah. Oh, yeah, she had her whole bathing suit on. Oh my goodness, I love it. I'm just Yeah, the only thing I'm missing is her necklace. I took it off and I lost it, but I still have her little bracelets, which is wild. Oh my god, it's funny how grandma thought that was risqué. That's funny. Right? So, do you remember the first Kelly? I do remember the first Kelly. She came with a crib.
58:34Yeah, this is my childhood one. Aw. Of course. I mean, once I saw Kelly dolls, people started getting them for me naturally or whatever, right? But, I really lost my love for her and then recently it's kind of come back. So, kind of a soft spot for Kelly. She's very dear to me cuz I I don't know. I love her. I still have all her stuff. I have her crib and everything. And her little like they're like little rabbit slippers. Like, she's wearing like a onesie and it's like the little puff on the on the this. Um but, I have to get uh new pom poms. The pom poms fell off. Not easy. Dollar store. Easy. Exactly, yeah. But, I keep going there and they have color ones. They don't have white. I have to show you my weird Barbie. Oh my god. That's um Oh my god, the hair would come with the hair, you would cut it. It came with the ex- Oh, stop. What's What's the name of this doll? I I keep saying like Totally Hair and it's not. That's not Totally Hair, obviously. Oh my god, what was This was her gimmick, so it's not like That was the gimmick. And she had like the little Velcro thing at the back of her head so you could stick the hair on. That's right. What was this doll's name? Cut 'n Style.
59:37Cut 'n Style, of course. That's exactly and I had the Teresa. I pretty sure I had the Christie. And you know what's really strange, like the way the commercial made it seem was that you can cut her hair and then you can grow it back. Like there she is with her full hair. But if you were to cut the extra hair she came with, you're done. You don't get it that it doesn't grow back, you know? She just came with that extra piece so that you could essentially cut like you did. Actually, you know what? It's actually a cute little hairstyle. I know it's like it's like almost like bobish. So the story behind this is I got it for Christmas along with the Barbie minivan, which I have in box. [laughter] I love that Barbie minivan. Mine is so busted. I would love to get a new one, but I loved it so much. Yeah, I got a I got a really good one with its box and it's complete and everything and it looks Right. Something I had to get like I got it in the last 3 years I want to say. Such a nice Yeah, I It goes really well with your camping like they're going camp like that goes really well. I got mine from Consumers Distributing.
1:00:44If anybody remembers Consumers Distributing, don't know if they were Canadian or you know, American too, but you would go there, they would have nothing there, you pick out of a catalog and say I want this and they'd go into a back room and they'd come out with it. I had to order mine and I had to wait and then they called and said it's ready. And I was like crying to my dad like please let's go get it. Let's go get it. Let's go get it. So very fond memory of that car. Anyways, back to Cut 'n Style. Yeah, so I cuz I think I got that for Christmas too cuz there was a picture of me playing with that minivan and she's in the driver's seat. [laughter] With your hair cut? No, not yet. So um this it was all around the Christmas time and I don't I didn't want to cut her hair. I wanted to just keep her as is. Yeah. But a friend of mine, well, a childhood friend, she was a little bit older than me, convinced to cut her hair and I was like I don't want to do it. So she did it. But she cut it too short. I thought I was kind of upset and I I cried. And it was around Christmas time. I just bought this doll. I would have cried.
1:01:43It was too short. Like it would have been fine if you cut it here and then you can at least like put it in a ponytail and she still has her leg extension, right? I was upset. Um but which is fine. And then later in life I wanted her to be Ginger Spice. Oh. I put a bunch of lip gloss, red lip gloss in her hair to dye it red. So that's why she's got a pink tint. Oh, but I kind of like the highlights. It kind of goes with her dress like her outfit. It's actually kind of cute. I I tried to wash it out and I like I recently cuz that it was in her hair for like years. came out. [laughter] This lip gloss, you would think it would just wash out. No. Okay. That's the best I can get it. And she had a a neck busted so. The thing with cutting her hair too short is like you could then if you put the extra piece of hair on the velcro, it looks odd. Like it just looks odd. Yeah, it doesn't look like a nice layer. It looks odd. Yeah, I basically would have to put a put that in there and then cut it so basically. Good times. Good times.
1:02:48She's still working. I know she's your weird Barbie, but she's still very cute. She's very cute. And like this is all like childhood like bracelets and shoes and everything. It's all good. It's all good. I have a really good story about why I love Barbie and the Rockers. We all love Barbie and the Rockers. So what is it about Sarah that has a special connection to Barbie and the Rockers? This was like after my mom died. So my dad and I would always go to the video store to rent a movie. And he know he'd be like, "Hey, what do you want to rent?" And I'd say Barbie and the Rockers every time. So every every time we rented a movie, I'd get a VHS of Barbie and the Rockers [snorts] and watch it every time. And I have that VHS. I need to see it.
1:03:40Oh my god. Where did you find this? I need to find this. I need to find this. Where did you find this? Oh my god. So I got these off eBay. I got this these both together. And the Sensations? Oh, I've never seen the Sensations one. [gasps] Rocking back to Earth. Oh my goodness, Sarah. These are Oh my god. The jukebox. I've always wanted the Sensations jukebox. [laughter] [gasps] I know. I wanted it so bad. Wait. Oh my goodness. That's wow. Remember Cool Times Midge? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I I just recently got their soda shop. Oh, that's cute. I need that I need that Cool Times Midge. She's on my grail Oh, I need that Cool Times Midge. She's on my grail list, too. Oh, I have that. Get her. I want to see her so I could love her even more. It's falling. Look at her face and her hair. Like come on, man. Midge is so like those freckles. She was always in Barbie's shadow. She's got a She's beautiful. I love her.
1:04:52I'm trying to piece this one together. Oh, I have her, too. I don't um I think I'm missing something though. I don't know exactly what. Maybe her earrings? I'm missing something on her. Yeah, I'm just missing her um I have her skateboard, but I don't have the like the handle. The sticker on it. That's what I'm missing. I don't have the skateboard. Don't have the skateboard. But I have I have part of it, but I don't have that part. And then I also have the Oh my god, do you have them all? I love how you have like complete sets. You don't just I I need these dolls. I need these dolls. And I love that Teresa face. It's like the California Dream Club California, whatever you want to call that face. I love it. Yeah, so this I'm still kicking myself. I had one. I didn't have her complete or anything. I didn't have her outfit, but she was in a really nice condition. I redid her hair. She looked great. And I sold her because oh, I have one in box. I don't need that. I opened her.
1:05:41She's got spots on her legs. And the one [clears throat] I sold didn't have spots. Didn't. Oh my goodness. [laughter] It's okay. You live and you learn, man. If you think about those moments sometimes, it just really like gets under your skin, you know? Yeah, like when I washed Diva's pants and I already knew that there was going to the stars were going to come off and I did it anyways. I learned from you. So thank you for saving the rest of us. I'm sorry that you had to go, but hopefully you get another pair of Diva through it twice. This is not even the first time. This is the second time I did that. Okay, so third time's a charm, Sarah. Third time's a charm. [laughter] Maybe it won't happen a third time. Well, the at least this time though like the stars are still there. It's just the pink foiling came off, but it's still silver foiling is still there.
1:06:31Whereas the first time I did it, it completely stripped it all off. So it just it looked bad. Like it looked really bad. We didn't know, man. We're learning. Like and this is this is part of the community, right? This is why I kind of wanted to start this this podcast is like we're just learning from each other. Like now I know not to do that and I'm learning a lot about restoring and what not to do and Oxiclean and how, you know, like things like that. Like that's what it's all about. We should just be sharing knowledge. Exactly. Yeah, I don't gatekeep. No gatekeeping here. [laughter] No judgment, right? No judgment. You know what other love [snorts] I have? Teen Talk. Ooh. Ooh, do you have the Teen Talk? Does she say math class is tough? No, I'm trying to find one and I haven't and I have let's see one, two, three, four, five, six and none of them And do they all say same things or does every single they different things?
1:07:20Yeah, they all say different. Okay, grab two. I want to hear like the differences between the two. Three, four, five that are complete and then one that I've been piecing together. This one I've been piecing together. Ooh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I just recently got her hat. So Cute. Cute. Love these Teen Talks. Okay, this one I know has This one has a battery in it, I know. I'm pretty sure. Why don't we take a Hawaiian vacation? We can take a Hawaiian vacation. Let's share secrets. Let's share secrets. [snorts] What a great party. What a great party. I love how they all say like different things and they didn't go cheap and like make them all say the same thing. Let's see what Barbie says. You look so cool. [screaming] You look so cool. [laughter] What does yours say? Hawaiian vacation? Yeah. Yeah? And what does Barbie say? Meet her at the party. Meet her at the party. Is that what yours just said? Nope. Let's share secrets. Ooh, let's share secrets. Music makes me feel great. Music makes me feel great. It's fun to go camping.
1:08:26It's fun to go camping. Look at that. Of course your doll would say that. [laughter] I got a couple that say that. I think one says like I love my camper or something or let's let's take a trip in my camper or something like that. I don't know. [laughter] Some of them will say like one phrase the same. So I have a couple that Actually, I have two dolls that say the exact same. So I have one doll that has says everything that she does. I think it's this one. Yeah, like this one I think says the same. Is that her outfit? Did she come with those pants? Yeah, they come with yeah. so cute. So I'll show one that's complete. That has all her stuff. How adorable. Look at this with the hat and the purse like Yeah, and it and then they came with shorts.
1:09:19Mine came with these little short leggings. Like these little like capris. Oh, I didn't get those. And extra shoes. I didn't get that. Now, this was a marketplace purchase mine, so I didn't get all that stuff. Yeah, this this one was um I unboxed her. Unboxed this one. The other ones were I either eBay or Yeah, I like how they all have different hair types, too. So, it's like Yes, I like that. See, this is the type of stuff in the Mattel like bring do like a Barbie Talk repro. Oh, you still have her in box. She's beautiful. Do you have that one out of box, that hair color? Uh not this specific colorway, no. I love that color that colorway. I just love her.
1:10:05Oh my god, I love in the skirt. Oh. With the leggings underneath, it's just so '90s. I love it. Oh my goodness, look at the packaging. Fantastic. So, there's another version that says more things. How much does she say? It'll be fun to drive my new car with Midge? Wow, that's so cute. These are great. Something something's happening on Friday. Let get something to eat on Friday. So cute. So cute. They're so cute. Oh my god, I love the outfits. It reminds me of Blossom so much. Love [snorts] that.
